Because I have way too much time on my hands, I thought I would create a EV Training Guide for everyone. I hope this helps out

WHAT ARE EV'S?

EV's are Effort Values. These increase your stats upon leveling up. Everytime you beat a wild pokemon, it will give you a certain amount of EV's in a certain stat depending on the species.

HOW EV'S AFFECT STATS

For every 4 EV's your pokemon has in a stat. That Stat gains +1 to that stat. This may seem like you can upgrade your Pokemon forever but there is a maximum amount of EV's you can have.

MAXIMUM EV's

Each Pokemon can have a maximum of 510 EV's

One stat can have a maximum of 255 EV's

Now, Both 510 and 255 are not divisible by 4 so we will end up with useless EV's. This makes the optimum amount of EV's in one stat 252.

EV SPREADS

How EV's are spread out is called EV Spreads, The Spread that increases a pokemon's stats to it's fullest is 252,252,4. Now those eagle eyed mathematicians out there will notice that that spread only adds up to 508. This is the max amount of stat boosting EV's a pokemon can have, Those extra 2 EV's are useless. At 252 EV's you gain an extra 63 points to that stat so my next section is going to be very helpful.

HOW DO I EV TRAIN?

EV training is how you control the amount of EV's your pokemon has and which stat they are in. First you need to find a pokemon that gives the stat you want. The best for Pokemon Sun and Moon are listed below

HP- Makuhita - Route 2 (30 % Chance)

ATK- Yungoos - Route 2 (Day, 70% Chance)

DEF- Torkoal - Route 12 (20% Chance, Gives 2 Defense EV's)

SP.ATK- Haunter - Thrifty Megamart (40% Chance, Gives 2 SP.ATK EV's) - This may call a Gengar in a S.O.S Battle, Gengar gives you 3 SP.ATK EV's so it's a bonus for you

SP.DEF- Drowzee - (20% Chance)

SPE- Alolan Meowth (30% Chance) or Alolan Rattata - (Night, 70% Chance)

These all give 1 EV in their respective stat unless it's stated otherwise. These were all picked as they call only themselves in an S.O.S battle so you can guarantee you're only training the stat you want.

EV ITEMS

There are certain items that help train EV's listed below, these each give 8 EV's in their respective stat regardless of the pokemon fought but cut the pokemon's speed in half

Power Weight - HP

Power Bracer - ATK

Power Belt - DEF

Power Lens - SP.ATK

Power Band - SP.DEF

Power Anklet - SPE

Make your pokemon hold this before you go into the battle, makes your life so much easier, They can be bought from the battle dome for 16 BP

POKERUS

Pokerus is fantastic for EV Trainers, it doubles the amount of EV points you receive after a battle. Getting it is rare, there's a 1 in 21,178.6 chance of getting it from a wild pokemon battle. Luckily for us, if you wondertrade or go through the GTS, you can usually get a Pokerus pokemon pretty fast. Once a pokemon has pokerus it will only be "active" for a few days as long as the pokemon stays out of the box. When it goes back into a box, The timer on pokerus stops. Pokerus spreads to other pokemon in your party meaning once you have one pokemon with it, you can have it forever. Don't worry if the pokemon you have is cured of pokerus (a little smiley face next to the Alola Cross), it still gains the bonus.

THE METHOD

The method is simple, Get the pokemon you want to train, make sure they have pokerus or had it previously, Give it the power item that boosts the EV you want, and find a battle with the pokemon that gives the EV you want. The use an Adrenaline orb first turn, This increases your chances of an S.O.S battle occurring (the pokemon calling for help). An S.O.S Battle means the EV's earned double, so with a power item and pokerus, you get 36 EV's from each pokemon defeated so you only need to defeat 7 pokemon to max out a stat.

RESETTING EV'S

The easiest way to reset EV's is through berries, All the berries you need are found at the berry tree on route 10 but beware, Crabrawler is common under this tree

Pomeg Berry - 10 Hit Point EVs

Kelpsy Berry - 10 Attack EVs

Qualot Berry - 10 Defence EVs

Hondew Berry - 10 Special Attack EVs

Grepa Berry - 10 Special Defence EVs

Tamato Berry - 10 Speed EVs

I have seen videos about team ev training in SuMo, but I haven't quite found the method for the evs to be shared past the pokemon that is actually doing the battling

The XP Share passes EV's down to team members as well, not sure on the ratio of the sharing however.

a bit late, but i noticed an error. The max amount of EV's is actual 252 now, i think it was changed in gen 5.

That's the max amount of "usable" EV's, you can technically still put 255 EV's in, it is just a waste of 3 Ev's then

I don't mean to be one of 'those' guys, but your wrong. I'm only saying this to help make it more accurate, I don't mean to be annoying or anything.

The actually effective difference is nothing, but the limit DID change.
