Well, it turns out that the reason has everything to do with timekeeping on board the ark.
You see, since there was no sunlight inside the ark, the only way to keep track of time was by using a water clock. And according to Genesis 7:11, these water clocks were kept in jars. Now, the problem with water clocks is that they are not very accurate.
In fact, they can lose or gain up to 15 minutes per day! This means that if Noah had started his water clock on Day 1 of the Flood, by Day 150 (when the Floodwaters finally receded) his clock would be off by about 22 hours. So how did Noah know when to open the ark doors and let everyone out?
